Chicos súper amables. Necesitaba una bolsa de viaje para viajar de regreso a los Estados Unidos y algo de protección solar facial. Y fueron de gran ayuda. Recomendaría

Experiencia increíble en Tamarindo, se nota la buena vibra del lugar, la escuela está justo al lado de la playa, nos explicaron las condiciones del mar, cuando era buen momento para surfear, y pudimos dejar nuestras cosas en la taquilla. Cogimos dos clases con ellos y tanto gucci, el dueño, como los instructores de surf en especial Reni, nos ayudaron mucho, quedarán en nuestro recuerdo de Costa Rica.

Tomó una lección para principiantes con Andre. Andre fue un gran instructor y todos en la tienda fueron amables y serviciales. Excelente precio para una lección privada también. Si buscas aprender a surfear, este es un gran lugar para hacerlo.

Tomamos una lección de surf de 2 horas hoy y tuvimos una experiencia maravillosa. Los instructores de surf (Camilo y Laura) fueron serviciales y pacientes. Como grupo de 5, con niños de 9 a 13 años, la seguridad era nuestra principal prioridad. Los instructores se aseguraron de que los niños estuvieran siempre a la vista y seguros. ¡Nos lo pasamos de maravilla! Muy recomendable- 5 estrellas!

Gran experiencia tanto para mí como para mi hijo de 12 años. Gino era tranquilo y divertido. Gino también puede dar comentarios constructivos claros que me ayudan a avanzar. Ayudó a explicar la etiqueta y la terminología del surf. Además, la tienda tiene esa sensación de tienda local de surf.

Mi hijo de 7 años tuvo una lección de surf con Mateo hoy. No teníamos una cita concertada, pero el personal fue muy complaciente al prepararnos para tomar una lección improvisada. Mateo pudo aumentar la confianza de mi hijo mientras lo mantenía a salvo. Hubo un par de ocasiones en que otros surfistas se acercaron a ellos y Mateo estaba atento, protegiéndolos de cualquier posible interferencia. Al final de las 2 horas, mi hijo estaba surfeando con confianza. ¡Gracias Banana Surf Club! ¡Pura vida!

La mejor experiencia de surf jamás! Evi dio muchos buenos consejos y fue muy paciente con nosotros. Había tomado lecciones en otros lugares antes (Costa Rica, Hawái, Panamá) y todavía aprendí nuevos consejos que me ayudaron. Era la primera vez de mi hermana y pudo ponerse de pie después de un rato. Otras escuelas de surf a nuestro alrededor parecían tener una mayor proporción de alumnos por instructor y menos éxito. ¡Recomiendo encarecidamente al equipo de Banana Surf Club!

Took a surf lesson from Chalo. My wife and I were complete novices. Price was very fair, we had an absolute blast. Felt safe and encouraged by staff. We are in our 60s by the way. Easy to schedule and equipment was appropriate for our abilities. We will do it again, not sure we will get back to Costa Rica but I recommend this business. Chalo was very patient and took great joy in our successes.

Firstly let me say, there are a lot of great surf clubs in Tamarindo, just choose another one and not this one.
We booked a lesson at 6 in the morning. Really good communicating and nice that they opened the shop early for us to have a surf lesson!
When we arrived, we began our lesson on the beach with our surf instructor. He didn’t speak english that well. It was my first time and instructions were barely given. We went in the water and unfortunately my sister fell on the rocks/shells. We wanted to quit, since she was bleeding and in pain. The surf instructor didn’t care and went back to the shop without further communicating. Then he left with another surfboard and went surfing himself. He said: ‘give me your board, I’m going surfing’.
Our stuff (keys and phone) was still inside and the shop would open again at 8. Fortunately there was a lovely lady from a cafe next door who helped us and was shocked by our experience. We called the owner with her cellphone and fortunately the owner came and helped us.
The owner was nice, but also wasn’t really bothered by our experience. He was nice and tried to help us, but that’s it.
Like a lot of other negative reviews on this surf school, just rent or take a lessons somewhere else, it’s not worth it to book here.

My sister and I had an awesome time during a surf lesson here. The owner was super kind when we checked in for our lesson. We had so much fun during the lesson. Our instructor Gino taught us the basics before getting in the water and then was motivating and gave great tips in the water. He was able to modify his instructions and assistance to the different skills levels of my sister and I. I was quite terrible but still managed to stand up a few times with his assistance. We had so much fun with so many laughs and we both highly recommend checking out this business! Thanks Banana Surf Club!

Great location, very close to a couple of beach breaks, friendly service from a few different shop attendants, Gino was especially helpful in exchanging boards and getting us set up for the multiple days we went surfing. They also offer lessons throughout the day, which we did not get, but could be personal or for groups! Great selection of boards, longboards, fun boards, short boards and some really fun twin fin fish boards, all in good shape. They also have lockers to keep your stuff in while you're out surfing. We were able to leave the boards there while getting lunch or going back to where we were staying and picked them up whenever we needed. Great experience all around!

Banana Surf Club was a great place to book a surf lesson and rent boards. The staff at the shop were super nice and helpful and the instructor was amazing. Super cool guy who helped us learn the basics and have a great time doing it at the same time!

We had a great experience renting surfboards and paddle boards during our stay in Tamarindo. Their selection of both board types were great and the prices were reasonable for the 5 days we needed rentals.

Whether you’re looking for a performance shortboard to hit bigger swells, a fun shape or longboard to cruise the local waves, you’ll find what you need. And if a SUP is on your mind, they have a few options: shorter surf style boards and more all-rounders to cruise the flat water out to the island and hit smaller waves.

Would definitely recommend their rentals, but can’t speak to their lessons as we didn’t need them.

My husband and I booked a surf lesson here. Neither of us had tried it before and we were expecting it to be hard. Our instructor didn't speak much English and didn't introduce himself to us. We tried, but he wasn't interested. I was "lady" and my husband was "buddy" for the whole lesson. One of the English phrases he knew was "baby weight" (no baby, thanks, just Covid) which he used everytime I couldn't get up on the board. For my husband, who did manage to stand up, he didn't have anything positive to say or really anything helpful. We expected to have a fun time, play in the waves and give it our best shot, but that wasn't our experience at all.

Bottom line: There are lots of surf places in the area. If you need lessons, try somewhere else!

I rented a board for 24 hours from 0830 am on Saturday until 0830am on Sunday.
No one bothered to tell me the open hour is at 9am on Sunday and that it’s not possible to take the board again early morning, therefore, I had to rent another board from a different shop.
When I came back to Banana surf club after surfing, I asked if I can take the board for the time I have left the next morning, but I’ve been told it’s my problem for not knowing the opening hours and that I can rent again the board the day after for a full price.
The guy’s attitude was rude and disrespectful. He laughed at my request and underestimated me and my money value.
I will not go there never again neither recommend anyone to use their services.

I booked a surfing class and got an instructor that doesn't speak English. I decided to stop the lesson in the middle, but in spite all that the owner insisted on taking full price.

These guys are super friendly homies! Hooked us up with a great selection of different boards for the week. They have a sick 9’4 Robert August that goes so well out front!

Super local pour louer les planches de surf. Très bon accueil par les garçons, le matos est bon et bien entretenu. Prix très correct vu les prestations proposés les gars sont de bon conseils également! Allez y les yeux fermés, je recommande.
