El Pelicano Restaurant

We had an amazing dinner experience last weekend that we decided to return to El Pelicano for a second dinner prior to leaving Los Suenos. Overall a great experience though it poured on our first visit. Cocktails and appetizers are amazing. Indeed an award winning ceviche that we had it twice. Meals are packed with flavor and we were not disappointed. The restaurant does have the potential of being five stars but will require additional improvement with respect to service. We were promised a bread basket on our first visit and had to remind the wait staff. The bread finally showed up toward the end while we were eating our entrées. Our second visit was on a Tuesday night so the service was a bit below expectation as well. However the coconut shrimp and ceviche made us forget about all the imperfections of this restaurant. Nice and lively ambiance with a beach front view. It’s a must visit when in Costa Rica.

Deliciosa la comida, menú variado, pero lo que más me gusta es que cuentan con mesas donde te atienden en la playa, con un ambiente amigable, un panorama precioso de la playa y el mar. De los lugares más bonitos para visitar en el Pacífico central

Beautiful views, delicious food, nice atmosphere and above all, very attentive and friendly staff! We will most definitely be back, because I want to try everything on the menu!

O local é magnífico e os empregados ultra simpáticos, razão pela qual 5estrelas, porem como a comida estava mal confeccionada (pedimos peixe fresco que a cozinheira não soube cozinhar devidamente, o peixe veio cru na zona da barriga, tinhamos pedido para ser grelhado, situação que foi aceite porém fizeram o peixe no forno e demoraram cerca de 45min para fazer este prato mal feito), pelas razões atrás referidas retiramos 4 estrelas. Temos pena por esta situação pois mostraram-nos o peixe antes de o fazer, pelo que sugerimos que encontrem um (a) cozinheiro (a) que saiba confeccionar pratos de peixe.

My girlfriend chose this as our last meal in Costa Rica. The food and the hospitality here was superb. The staff treated us so nicely, and the dishes were true culinary delights. I would highly recommend this place

Highly recommend E Pelicano. Very fresh food choices. Excellent service. Chris was our server and was fantastic. We ended up going two nights in a row. Its definitely a CR vibe. Drinks were superb! The regular drink prices are very affordable but be Careful if you upgrade liquor as it can be pricey.

There was trash outside restaurant and the breeze made it worst. I keept getting grossed out. It looks like a decent spot but the area is bit sketchy

Great local outdoor dining in Playa Herradura, Costa Rica They cooked our catch of the day and it was very good. Had heard the wine list was limited so we took our own and they served for a nominal fee. Would definitely go back

Les recomiendo la hamburguesa de atún sellado con pan con tinta de calamar y gajos sazonados con perejil y cajún. Super buena. La atención es buena y los precios razonables

Too expensive for the quality of food. I had a Filete Mignon and it was raw in the middle. They had to take it back and cook it again. The place is not worth the price. Only giving 2 stars because the waiters were very friendly however it is expected for what you pay

This place is fantastic! The service was awesome and the food was great (with pretty big portions).
That day our family went fishing and we caught tuna. The chef and restaurant took our fresh catch and prepared it for us!
How great!

The worst chef in all Herradura, doesn't even know how to cook a steak!
We had to return 4 time the same steak cause he didn't know how to use a thermometer to measure the meat doneness.
On top of this, the restaurant didn't mamaged the situation well, no apologies or any other type of token was given to us, was like they just didn't care!
Avoid ruining your meal, go somewhere else!

Estando en Playa Herradura visite éste lugar junto con una de mis hijas. Me lo había recomendado una lugareña. Al preguntarle a la encargada por el baño para mi hija me contestó que era solo para clientes y que no estaba en muy buen estado. Ni siquiera me dio oportunidad de explicar que pretendía también ver el menú para el almuerzo. Pero ante tal respuesta preferí retirarme y buscar otra opción. Muchas veces se quejan que no hay clientes o turistas. En mi caso éramos 12 personas. Pero me pregunto si el baño debe ser prioridad para el funcionamiento de un local de esta clase por que no tenerlo en buen estado. Por todo lo anterior NO recomiendo esté lugar. Mucho por mejorar

On the flight to Costa Rica, other man sitting next to us recommended El Pelicano. We waited until our last night to go here. Big mistake. I wish we would have gone earlier in the week as we would have been back more often. The fish was fresh and delicious. Prepared grilled, steamed or fried. I had the grilled shrimp and the shrimp were huge. It was right in the water and a perfect place for sunset. There are a few dishes prepared table side and flambéed.

Excellent service, food and a fantastic view of the sunset. The fish was fresh, well prepared and delicious. We will be back again for sure.

We stopped here for a few beers recently. The restaurant was not very busy and it was very warm. The staff was nice enough to offer some fans and they were overall very pleasant. After looking at the menu we decided that it wasn’t to our taste- all seafood, price was more than we were used to paying. Restaurant was very empty. We decided to just have a few drinks and eat somewhere else close by.

Very good seafood restaurant. We went there twice during our 3 nights stay, because the food was so good. The ceviche is really good (won a local contest). Highly recommended!

Primera vez que vamos a almorzar a Herradura, íbamos de regreso para San José. No había demasiada gente en la zona por lo que nos animamos a buscar dónde almorzar. Este es un Restaurante cómodo, buen espacio entre mesas.muy buena atención y lo mejor es que a mis dos hijos y mi Esposa nos gustó lo que comimos y tomamos.los baños limpios y a 50 mtrs se encuentra un parqueo ya que la calle es muy angosta para parquear ahí.
Se localiza frente a la playa, me llamó la atención que no había moscas acompañando los platillos.puede haber sido por la sabrosa brisa marina que hacía. Espero que si pueden ir a disfrutar de la playa aunque sean pocos días como nosotros.les haga buen clima!
